The Hilltop Sports Arena, a multi sports facility based on the Willerby Business Park, will close to the community unless new revenue streams of around £25K per annum are secured.
HIlltop is one of the best community based sports facilities in the region and the home of Cottingham Tigers RLFC, Westella and Willerby AFC and Cottingham Cricket Club. Over £1 million has been spent improving the facilities since they were opened in 1999. However, the recent loss of one of the main sources of revenue has meant Hilltop may have to close at the end of March 2016.The closure of the Hilltop Sports Arena will mean 600 young people will not be able to play their sports at the facility.
The Help Hilltop fundraising committee are currently developing several initiatives aimed at generating new income streams to prevent the closure of the facilities. These initiatives include sponsorship deal(s) and a “Friends of Hilltop” scheme, targeting both local business and the local community. It is hoped that these initiatives, along with renting out the 1st floor office space within the facilities’ club house, will generate sufficient income to keep the facilities open for future generations of young, local sportsmen and women.
