This Saturday sees Westella VIP travel up the A1 North to visit Knaresborough Town in their third NCEL division one league fixture. MATCH REPORT – Eccleshill United  3 Westella VIP 4

Westella VIP made the long trip to Bradford on Saturday taking on established side Eccleshill United in their first NCEL division one fixture. Westella had a good opening period dominating play but failed to capitalise with their possession and eventually fell behind to a opening goal by Luke Harrop on 29 minutes. Moments before half time Westella full back Mike Hewitt unfortunately put the ball in the back of his own net giving the hosts a 2-0 lead. Fortunately for Westella VIP Alex Wood pulled a good goal back to reduce the score to 2-1. Westella started the second half brightly and drew level through Chris Spinks for 2-2 within the first 60 seconds played. As the game went on Westella VIP continued to dictate play and grew stronger creating further chances. Match Preview – Eccleshill United vs Westella VIP 

Westella VIP begin a new chapter in their history on Saturday as they play their opening league game away to Eccleshill United in the Toolstation NCEL Division One league. After gaining promotion from the CMFL League last season manager Leon Sewell has had to recruit wisely with all of his squad signing for the 2015/2016 season seeing only two players leave the club for pastures new. “We’ve had a really good pre season this summer and we’ve had the chance to look at a number of players who have all committed to the club leaving me with a headache for the opening league game in picking the starting eleven”. Westella VIP Win Opening Pre-season Game

Westella VIP visited local Scunthorpe side Appleby Frodingham on Wednesday evening in their first pre season friendly fixture and came away with a resounding 6-1 victory.  Manager Leon Sewell utilised his full playing squad available playing two different sides including some new faces featuring in both halves of the game.  New signing Danny Holiday made a great impact with 2 minutes on the clock cooly slotting past the on rushing keeper.  Lewis Andrews made it 2-0 on 15 minutes reacting quickly to a second ball finding the back of the net from 18 yards out.  Alex Wood getting the third on the stroke of half time expertly dinking the keeper for 3-0.  Mike Pecora made it 4-0 on 51 minutes been alert to a short goal kick intercepting the ball and finding the bottom corner, shortly after another new face, Matty Littlewood found himself in space after Westella VIP pushed…

22nd Annual Sportsmans Dinner

The club’s Annual Sportsmans Dinner welcomes the visit of former Liverpool & Rep Of Ireland International Star John Aldridge. Also Performing is the fine comedian impressionist, Kevin Connelly, who will be supplying the giggles for the evening. Willerby Manor will host the evening on Thursday 12th November 2015, commencing at 7.30pm. Lounge suite will be the minimum requirement for the dress code, however feel free to wear a dinner suit if you wish.
